The whole process is undoubtedly an ordeal, and requires serious dedication, but it would appear to be required if you want to generate vector graphics in a Word document. You can set up everything just perfectly on your computer, but when the document is opened on another computer, the formatting can change. In Office 2011 for Mac, Word formats your document based on the fonts used, margin settings, and also on the capabilities of your computer's default printer. The concept of a page in Word is a bit flexible.
However, I am unable to insert any svg file into any office program (using Insert Picture from the ribbon or by dragging a file into an office program). I read here that the latest version supposedly has support for using SVG files.
